An ancient country estate among the hills of Reggio Emilia

Cavazzone is a historic farm estate located at an altitude of 450 metres, about 15 minutes from Reggio Emilia, surrounded by 300 hectares of woodland and cultivated land in the heart of the Reggio Emilia hills. This charming rural complex, rich in history and authenticity, is the ideal place to relax in nature and rediscover the slow rhythms of the Emilian countryside.

The old farmhouses have been carefully transformed into welcoming rooms, suites and apartments that combine the warmth of rustic style with modern comforts such as Wi-Fi, television and, in some cases, air conditioning. The apartments, featuring connecting bedrooms, private bathrooms and, in one case, a fully equipped kitchen and living room, are ideal for longer stays.

The restaurant, created from the historic stables with vaulted ceilings and cast-iron columns, offers typical dishes from the Reggio Emilia culinary tradition prepared with seasonal ingredients and products from the farm itself, including organic flours. The menu features local specialties such as cured meats, Parmigiano Reggiano, tortelli, tagliatelle, erbazzone and Lambrusco wine, all enhanced by the estate’s own balsamic vinegar. During the summer, the panoramic terrace offers a charming view over the Po Valley and the Alps, while more intimate spaces such as the Saletta dei Cacciatori are perfect for private dinners.

One of the estate’s highlights is its historic vinegar cellar, located in a well-ventilated hayloft where more than 250 barrels preserve Cavazzone’s balsamic vinegar. Production follows traditional methods handed down through generations, with a long process of fermentation, oxidation and ageing in barrels made from different types of wood.

Cavazzone also offers guided tours and tastings, cooking classes, and spaces for private events, weddings and corporate meetings, ensuring an authentic experience where flavour, hospitality and tradition come together.
