Located at 1433 m above sea level, La Villa, every December, becomes the heart of the world of international ski racing on the Gran Risa slope, one of the most technically challenging slopes in the alpine Ski World Cup. For 30 years, ski stars have been meeting in this sporty and worldly destination. Music, fun, parties and ski enthusiasts from all over the world: the weekend of the World Cup in mid-December is very eventful. The Piz La Ila cable car connects the ski area on the plateau between La Villa, San Cassiano and Corvara, where inviting shelters and huts delight skiers with delicious specialties. Around the ancient castle “Ciastel Colz”, there are the hotels of La Villa, which due to their proximity to the ski paradises of Alta Badia and Sellaronda, are ideal for an unforgettable winter holiday in Val Badia. Located at an altitude of 1537 m at the foot of the Lavarela and Conturines massifs is surrounded by geologically and historically interesting mountains. On Mount Lagazuoi you can see evidence of the tragic history of the First World War. At the foot of the Conturines it is possible to visit the well-preserved cave of the prehistoric cave bear, Ursus ladinicus. During the winter months, San Cassiano offers special highlights such as the natural toboggan run Foram, the 7.2 km (4.8 mi) long downhill slope Lagazuoi to San Cassiano - Saré, and the cross-country-skiing centre Armentarola in addition to the countless possibilities for hiking and snowshoeing.
