Sala da Tè Babington

Historical tearooms of Rome

In the setting of Piazza di Spagna, one of the most beautiful and famous squares in the world, you cannot visit one of the most exclusive historical tearooms of Rome.

The Babingtons Tea Room, opened in 1893 by two young English women, is a hangout for the international jet set. Famous people from writers to American actors have passed from here as Liz Taylor and Richard Burton in 1960’, or Dustin Hoffman and Monica Bellucci in recent times. Indeed, here is also easy to meet the heirs of the Italian aristocracy, or the great industrialists and the representative of the world of luxury and fashion, as Bulgari or Rocco Barocco.

Babington is not only a tearoom but also a restaurant that is open from 10.00 am to 9.15 pm. It offers a wide selection of sweet and savoury dishes, from light meals to Victorian teas, as the English tradition requires. For lunch or brunch, you can enjoy original dishes that blend elements of Anglo-Saxon cuisine with those of Mediterranean cuisine, such as the Canarino - poached eggs on pilaf rice savoury seasoned. From elegant afternoon teas, light lunches, snacks and salads to indulgent ice creams and the finest aperitifs, excellent refreshment but also private rooms in the heart of Rome to organize your business meetings, team building sessions, parties, family events and baby showers!
